Domains and addresses on Aria
Every app gets a free address you can name on ariaserver.cloud. Connect your own domain with two DNS records, or buy one in Aria. HTTPS is automatic.

Every app on Aria gets a free address you can name, <name>.ariaserver.cloud, with HTTPS, as soon as it launches. To use your own domain, add it in the dashboard, create two DNS records where you manage it, and Aria checks them and turns on HTTPS for you. You can also buy a domain, or move one in, inside Aria. See Buy or transfer a domain.
What address does my app get?
Each public service (web, api or static) gets an address that always works and needs no DNS. You choose the name when you set the project up, and it is included at no extra cost.
- The main web service gets
<name>.ariaserver.cloud. - Another public service gets
<service>.<name>.ariaserver.cloud, such asapi.shop.ariaserver.cloud. - A worker has no address.
A name has 3 to 48 lowercase letters, numbers or hyphens, with at least one letter, and it has to be free. Some words are reserved, such as admin or www, and Aria suggests another name if yours is taken.
Can I change my free address?
Yes. On the web, open the project’s Domains page, open the free address and type a new name. Aria checks it as you type. If the project is running, its address and routes change straight away. Aria lists the settings that use the old address, so you can review them.
How do I connect a domain I own?
- Open your project, go to Domains, and choose Add a domain, then I own a domain.
- Enter the domain, such as
app.example.com, and choose which service it should reach. - Aria shows two DNS records. Create both where your domain’s DNS is managed:
- an A record that points the name at your server;
- a TXT record at
_aria-challenge.<your domain>holding a token. It proves the domain is yours. Leave it in place.
- Wait. Aria checks every few minutes. You can press Check DNS to check now.
The domain moves through four states:
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Needs DNS | Aria is waiting for the records. |
| Checking DNS | The records are in. Aria is checking them, which takes a few minutes. |
| HTTPS error | The records are right but HTTPS is not set up yet. Aria tries again by itself. |
| Active | Connected. It reaches your service over HTTPS. |
DNS can take minutes to spread. The records list shows which one Aria has not found yet.
How do I set the domain in aria.yaml?
domain on a public service says which name it should get on your own domain. @ is the domain itself and a short name such as api becomes api.yourdomain.com.
services:
web:
type: web
port: 3000
domain: "@"
api:
type: api
port: 8080
domain: api
databases:
main:
type: supabase
domain: dbdomain is a hint. Aria proposes these addresses when you add your domain, and you can change them. Two services cannot use the same one. A service named api always keeps api, because webhooks and sign-in callbacks usually point there. The Supabase gateway uses supabase in that case, or whatever you set on the database.
Can I buy a domain in Aria?
Yes. Aria registers it, sets its DNS records and turns on HTTPS. You can also transfer in a domain you already have. See Buy or transfer a domain.
What does the Domains tab show?
The workspace’s Domains tab lists every address of every project, in four groups:
| Group | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Bought from Aria | Aria renews them and runs their DNS. |
| Transferred to Aria | Moved in from another registrar. Aria renews them and runs their DNS. |
| Your own | At your own DNS provider. Aria checks their records. |
| Free addresses | Every app has one. They always work and need no DNS. |
Can I move a domain to another service or project?
Yes. Open the domain’s menu and choose Move to another app. Aria shows what the move changes first. On the same server, DNS stays as it is and the domain stays live. On another server, its address record has to point there. Choose Make main address to set the main address of an app.
How do I stop using a domain?
- Delete, on a domain still waiting for DNS, makes Aria forget it and its addresses at once.
- Disconnect, on a connected domain, stops its addresses at once, and your project goes back to its free address. Aria then lists the records you can take out at your DNS provider.
What if my settings still use the old address?
After a domain is added, moved or removed, Aria lists the settings in your app that use the old address, so you can review them. Variables built with template are kept current by themselves.
