Claude Code

Deploy from Claude Code, with two layers of control

Aria AI can run on your Claude subscription, and Claude Code can connect on its own over MCP. Your own permission rules decide what it may call, and Aria decides what runs.

Two ways to work

Aria AI first. MCP when you want it.

Aria AI is built into Aria. Claude Code over MCP is for working outside it. The same rules apply to both.

1

Aria AI

The AI built into Aria. It writes aria.yaml, sets things up, reads logs and fixes things, inside the Mac app and the web dashboard.

On the Mac, your subscription

Aria finds the coding tool on your Mac, shows who it is signed in as and asks “Is this the one?”. One click and it is connected. The turns run on your own Mac. Choose Claude Code and Aria AI uses the plan you already pay for.

In the browser, an API key

Paste a key in AI & MCP and Aria AI works in the web dashboard, wherever you are signed in.

2

MCP

For a coding agent working outside Aria. It calls Aria’s tools with a key that reaches one app. Run aria init or aria mcp add.

How do you connect Claude Code?

Three commands, from your repository. You approve a key in Aria with a code.

What aria init does

  • Links the repository to one Aria app.
  • Makes a key for that app only, and adds it to Claude Code at local scope, so it stays out of your repository.
  • Writes the Aria skill to .claude/skills/aria/SKILL.md.
  • Adds an Aria section to AGENTS.md.

Run it twice and nothing changes. aria init --reconnect replaces the key. Check with claude mcp list, or /mcp inside Claude Code.

Terminal
curl -fsSL https://api.getaria.cloud/v1/downloads/cli/install.sh | sharia loginaria init

Which layer controls what?

Claude Code asks you, and so does Aria. They do different jobs, and neither replaces the other.

Aria’s levels: Look, Change, DeleteAria’s serversWhat happens when a tool is called. Look runs. A Change runs or waits, by key. Delete always waitsThe key’s capabilities, under AI & MCP in Aria

Claude Code names an MCP tool mcp__<server>__<tool>, and mcp__<server>__* matches every tool of one server. The server is aria- followed by your app’s short name. Run claude mcp list to see it.

A sensible start: allow the tools that only look, ask before saving the stack file, and deny the one that changes data, so the agent never even proposes it. The tool names and levels are on the safety model.

.claude/settings.json
{  "permissions": {    "allow": [      "mcp__aria-myapp__get_app_overview",      "mcp__aria-myapp__get_logs",      "mcp__aria-myapp__validate_stack_file",      "mcp__aria-myapp__preview_launch"    ],    "ask": [      "mcp__aria-myapp__submit_stack_file"    ],    "deny": [      "mcp__aria-myapp__db_migrate"    ]  }}

How do you share the setup with a team?

Commit the server, not the key. Each person makes their own key.

Put this in .mcp.json at the repository root. Claude Code expands ${VAR} in headers, and asks each person to approve a project server before it uses it.

Everyone makes a key under AI & MCP, exports ARIA_MCP_KEY and starts Claude Code from that shell. Never use --scope project with a literal key.

.mcp.json
{  "mcpServers": {    "aria-myapp": {      "type": "http",      "url": "https://api.getaria.cloud/mcp/w/wsp_YOURAPP",      "headers": {        "Authorization": "Bearer ${ARIA_MCP_KEY}"      }    }  }}

What does a first session look like?

  1. Ask for the file

Paste the prompt below. Claude Code reads the repository, writes aria.yaml, checks it and saves it.

  2. Pick a plan, pay and enter secrets

You do this in Aria. The agent never sees the values. aria env add NAME types one with hidden input.

  3. Launch

Launching waits for you. Approve it in Aria under AI & MCP, then Approvals, or run aria deploy --wait.

  4. Check and fix

Ask Claude Code to run aria check and read the logs. When it pushes a fix, Aria redeploys the services that changed.

First prompt
Use the Aria skill. Call get_stack_prompt, read this repository, write aria.yaml, check it with validate_stack_file, then save it with submit_stack_file. Ask me to enter any secret values; never print them.

Questions about Claude Code and Aria

Can Aria AI use my Claude subscription?

Yes, on the Mac. Aria finds Claude Code on your Mac, shows who it is signed in as and asks “Is this the one?”. One click connects it, and the turns run on your own Mac. In the browser, Aria AI uses an API key instead.

How do I connect Claude Code to Aria?

Install the aria command line, run aria login, then run aria init in your repository. It makes a key for that app only, adds the MCP server to Claude Code for this project, installs the Aria skill and adds a short section to AGENTS.md. By hand, use claude mcp add with the transport http and an Authorization header.

Can Claude Code deploy without asking me?

Partly. The key that aria init makes may operate the app, so routine changes such as saving aria.yaml and deploying a service run straight away. Environment variables, launching the whole app, DNS records and deletes always wait for you in Aria. A read-only key makes every change wait.

Do Claude Code’s permission rules replace Aria’s approvals?

No. They are two separate layers. Claude Code’s rules run on your computer and decide which tools it may call. Aria’s levels run on Aria’s servers and decide what happens when a tool is called. A rule that allows a tool never removes an Aria approval.
