Render alternative

Aria Cloud vs Render. One server, not a bill per service.

Render is a friendly platform where each web service, worker, database and cache is its own instance with its own price. Aria Cloud runs them together on one private server and charges once.

The reference stack

What does the same stack cost?

The reference stack is one web service (about 1 GB of memory), one background worker (about 0.5 GB), a Postgres database (about 2 GB) and Redis (about 0.25 GB), for a team of three developers with modest traffic. Render's sizes do not match exactly, so each line uses the nearest listed size at or above the need. Render lists workers in the same Services and Workers table as web services, without a separate worker price.

Different currencies, nothing converted. The worker line is read from the shared Services and Workers table, not from a separate worker price. Bandwidth beyond the included amount and extra build minutes are not counted.

How Render charges

Render charges in two layers. The first is the workspace plan: Hobby is $0, Pro is $25 a month and Scale is $499 a month, each plus compute. Hobby includes one seat, 5 GB of bandwidth and 500 build minutes a month. Pro includes unlimited seats, 25 GB of bandwidth and 1,000 build minutes. The second layer is compute: every web service, worker, database and cache is an instance with a monthly price that depends on its memory and CPU.

That makes a bill easy to read and easy to grow. A web service at 2 GB is $25, a 2 GB Postgres is $40, a 256 MB Key Value is $10, and a persistent disk is $0.25 per GB a month. A second environment is a second set of those lines.

How Aria Cloud charges

Aria Cloud charges for a server. A plan is one private VPS, from Starter (2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB disk) at £9 a month to Scale Plus (16 vCPU, 32 GB RAM, 400 GB disk) at £60 a month, ex VAT, in pounds. The web service, worker, Postgres and Redis share it. Nothing is charged per seat, per app, per database or per request.

One server runs up to 5 apps, and one aria.yaml holds up to 12 services and 6 databases. Backups are nightly, encrypted and stored off your server, kept 30 days by default.

The free tier, and what it is for

Render has a free tier with published limits. Free web services spin down after 15 minutes without traffic and take about a minute to wake. Each workspace gets 750 free instance hours a month, and when they run out the free web services are suspended until next month. A free Postgres database expires 30 days after creation, with a 14-day grace period before it is deleted, and has no backups. A free Key Value store keeps data in memory and loses it on restart.

This is a good way to try Render. On Aria Cloud every plan is a private server that stays up.

Databases and workers

On Render, Postgres and Key Value are separate managed services with their own sizes, and a web service reaches them over Render’s private network. That is a good design, and it means each can be resized on its own.

On Aria Cloud the database runs on the same machine as the app, so a query does not leave the server, and the memory is shared: a quiet worker leaves room for a busy web service. Aria sizes the whole stack from your aria.yaml before you pay.

Agents and approvals

Render offers a CLI and an API. Aria AI, built into the Mac app and the web dashboard, writes aria.yaml, sets things up, reads logs and fixes things. A coding agent outside Aria connects over MCP. The same rules apply to both, and Aria enforces them on its own servers, not in a prompt. Reading (status, logs) runs straight away. With a read key, every change waits for your approval. With an operate key, routine deploys run straight away, while environment variables, launches, DNS, GitHub pushes and anything destructive always wait for you. Deleting needs your approval, or the typed name in the app.

What changes when you move

Write an aria.yaml that lists the same services and databases as your Render blueprint or dashboard. Aria AI or your coding agent can do this from the repository. Aria builds from your repository with Railpack or your Dockerfile. Move Postgres with a dump and a restore, add your environment variables once, launch, and point your domain.

What Render does best

Render is easy to start on. The free tier lets you try a service before paying, pricing is listed per instance, builds and deploys are managed, and databases and caches are managed services you can resize separately. Pro gives unlimited seats for a flat $25 workspace fee, and billing is prorated to the second.

Our recommendation

Choose Aria Cloud when

  1. Your app is a web service, a worker, Postgres and Redis, and you want one price instead of four.
  2. You want the database on the same machine as the app.
  3. You want everything to run all the time, with no spin-down.
  4. You want Aria AI or your own coding agent to deploy under rules enforced on the server.

Moving from Render to Aria Cloud

  1. Describe your stack

Ask Aria AI or your coding agent to write aria.yaml listing your services and databases.

  2. See the server that fits

Aria recommends the smallest server that fits the whole stack.

  3. Bring your data

Move Postgres with a dump and a restore, and add your variables once.

  4. Launch

    Launch, then point your domain.

Questions

What people ask when they compare Aria Cloud with Render.

Is Aria Cloud a Render alternative?

Yes, for apps made of several always-on parts. Aria puts the web service, worker, Postgres and Redis on one private VPS at one flat monthly price.

What is the smallest Aria plan?

Starter, at £9 a month ex VAT: a private server that runs all the time. One server can run several websites and apps.

Do services spin down on Aria?

No. The server runs all the time, and so do the services on it.

Is Render cheaper than Aria?

It depends on how many parts you run. Render prices each one. For the reference stack on this page, Render comes to about $107 a month on Pro and Aria to £9, in different currencies.

How do I move my Render Postgres?

Take a dump with pg_dump and restore it into the Postgres Aria sets up on your server.

How much does Aria cost compared with Render?

Aria charges one flat monthly price per server, from £9 a month ex VAT, in GBP, with no charges per seat, per app, per database or per request. Render’s pricing is on its own pricing page (https://render.com/pricing); the figures on this page were read on 31 October 2026 and are in US dollars, while Aria’s are in pounds, so nothing is converted.

What could not be checked

The HTML version of Render’s pricing page returned headings but no prices to the reading tool, so the numbers on this page come from the Markdown version of the same page. Render does not price workers on a separate line there; the worker figure comes from the shared Services and Workers table.

Render’s regions and the backup retention and high-availability terms for its paid databases were not stated on the pages read.

Aria Cloud publishes this page. Prices change, so check each source for current figures. Aria’s own figures come from the pricing page and its sizing estimate for the reference stack, which is an estimate and not a measurement. An Aria plan is one monthly price for one private VPS. Run several apps, workers and databases on it, up to the server’s memory, and invite your agents too: there are no charges per seat, per app, per database or per request. Sending email with Aria Mail is the one usage add-on.

Your own server. Your AI runs it.
